2018 BookBaby Student Scholarship Opportunity

BookBaby is pleased to offer five student scholarships to attend this year’s BookBaby Independent Authors Conference taking place in Philadelphia, PA, from November 2-4, 2018.

The BookBaby Independent Authors Conference is pleased to announce its 2018 Scholarship Essay Contest for all high school and college students. As a way to encourage students to pursue a career in writing and book publishing, BookBaby is offering five students the opportunity to take an insider’s look at the 2018 Independent Authors Conference, encompassing a full weekend of empowering keynotes, insightful workshops, and the chance to meet an inspiring community of writers, authors, and publishing professionals. These five wordsmiths will be able to attend any of the BookBaby Independent Authors Conference sessions that they choose, in areas of their particular writing interest, and make giant leaps in their writing and self-publishing careers.

THE RULES

All students must write a 250-word (maximum) essay on the following topic:

Why are books and writing important in 2018?

All essays must be submitted by Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.

  • A BookBaby Scholarship that includes two all-access passes (per winner) to attend the 2018 Independent Authors Conference, November 2-4 in Philadelphia, PA, with more than 35 workshops, panels, and keynote addresses from writing and publishing experts.

The 2018 Independent Authors Conference is the largest self-publishing conference in the US dedicated to helping writing professionals gain more ground in their writing careers. This weekend-long event is dedicated to self-publishing, where independent authors will learn practical skills from industry experts about what it takes to publish, market, and sell their books. Taking place this November 2-4, 2018 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill Hotel in Philadelphia, PA, BookBaby will welcome over 500 writers, authors, industry leaders, and publishing experts to Philadelphia’s Old City district for a weekend of inspiration and a lifetime’s worth of knowledge.

Terms and conditions: Contest is open to all high school and college students. Winners will be notified by Oct. 15, 2018 via email. Each of the winning students’ parents or guardians must sign a liability waiver in order for the student to attend the conference. Tickets are non-transferable and have no cash value if unused.
